There are countless marriage ministries, books, and blogs that come from traditional, hierarchical, complementarian, and egalitarian marriage views. However, marriages continue to struggle.

For over 43 years of Tim + Anne focused on living out God’s creational marriage design of mutuality, and functional equality—what they referred to as co-leadership. The model for living out co-leadership goes all the way back to Eden. From the beginning, the husband and wife were both made in the image of God. They both celebrated the benefits of intrinsic equality while enjoying functional authority. The man and woman were both given the dominion and procreation mandates (Genesis 1:26-27).

In God’s creational marriage design, before sin entered the story, there was no evidence of hierarchy, headship, or the husband designated the wife’s leader, authority, spiritual cover—or mediator.

In fact, when, when Jesus talked about marriage in Matthew 19:4-5, he returned to God’s creational design.
